Remedy Entertainment has officially confirmed that their new game FBC: Firebreak will not feature the fan-favourite band The Old Gods of Asgard. This musical group has long been an integral part of the Remedy universe, but this time the studio decided to go a different way.

Here's What We Know

The Old Gods of Asgard, who in real life are the Finnish band Poets of the Fall, previously graced the soundtracks of such Remedy hits as Alan Wake 2 and Control. Their songs "Herald of Darkness" and "Take Control" have become iconic for fans and added a unique atmosphere to the games.

However, in the new first-person shooter FBC: Firebreak, which takes place in the Control universe, will not feature the musicians. The game's director Mike Kayata gave a short answer in a comment for VGC: "Unfortunately, no," laughing at the idea of making the band playable characters.

In addition, journalists asked about the possible appearance of other iconic Remedy characters, such as The Threshold Kids or the janitor Ahti, but Kayata refrained from commenting, leaving fans in limbo.

FBC: Firebreak is preparing for closed technical testing, which will take place this week. The game will be released on 17 June on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X for around $40. It will also be available on the same day on PC Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and PlayStation Plus.

This three-player co-op shooter offers a new take on the Control universe, with easy gameplay that doesn't require any prior familiarity with the series. The developers aim to create a game that is fun, but does not impose a strict time limit on players or the need to keep coming back.
