The ASUS ProArt lineup has expanded: the company announced the ProArt PA400 — the first in the series of external SSD enclosures supporting the USB4 interface. The device is aimed at videographers, photographers, and designers working with high-resolution materials, the loading of which is time-consuming.

Speed without compromises

The main feature of the novelty is support for the USB4 protocol, providing bandwidth up to 40 Gbps. In real scenarios, this allows achieving data transfer speeds of up to 3800 MB/s. For comparison, transferring 100 GB of source files in 4K/8K format will take just seconds, which is critical for meeting deadlines.

Cooling and Reliability

High speed means strong heating, but in ProArt PA400, this issue is resolved at the engineering level:

  • the aluminum chassis efficiently dissipates heat;
  • included thermal pads ensure tight contact between the SSD and the enclosure to prevent throttling (speed drop when heated);
  • the device is executed in the recognizable minimalist ProArt style with a ribbed surface that increases the heat exchange area.

Simplicity and Versatility

ASUS ensured that no screwdrivers are required for the user. The Q-Latch system allows securing the drive inside the enclosure with a single finger movement.

Key features of ProArt PA400:

  • compatibility with M.2 NVMe drives (sizes 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280);
  • full backward compatibility with USB 3.2 and Thunderbolt ¾;
  • stable operation with Windows, macOS, iPadOS, and Android.

The device comes with a high-quality USB4 cable certified for operation at maximum speeds.

Release date and retail price of the new product in specific regions will be announced additionally.
