Battlefield Movie in the Works: Christopher McQuarrie and Michael B. Jordan Team Up for Epic Adaptation
Another legendary game franchise will get adapted to film!
In September, It's official: Paramount Pictures will take on the Call of Duty film adaptation the shooting of a "realistic and thrilling" Call of Duty movie, which we now know Call of Duty Movie: Epic Action Film Set for Global Release on June 30, 2028. It was obvious that the equally popular Battlefield shooter series would also be adapted for the screen sooner or later, and now this guess has been confirmed.
What is Known
According to The Hollywood Reporter, negotiations for a Battlefield adaptation have started. Journalists have learned that Christopher McQuarrie, known for his work on action-packed spy films "Jack Reacher" and "Mission Impossible," wants to become the film's scriptwriter. If agreements are reached, he will write the script, become the director, and produce the film.
Academy Award-winning actor and director Michael B. Jordan, known for his work in "Sinners," "Black Panther," and "Creed," may serve as co-producer. He also wants to play the main role, but it's too early to talk about that yet.
Christopher McQuarrie has already held meetings with representatives from Apple and Sony, and soon he will pitch the film idea to other companies, but it is unknown if anyone is interested in its production. However, The Hollywood Reporter mentions that the authors aim to release the film in theaters and are not in favor of a streaming release.
It's also known that the rights holder to Battlefield, the gaming publisher Electronic Arts, will also participate in the film's production.
Recall that the latest installment in the series is Battlefield 6. The game was released in October 2025 and, after an extremely successful start, lost almost its entire audience, and its creator Vince Zampella died in a car accident in December.
