Huawei and Honma built a golf watch with a 21-day battery and a golden buckle
Huawei has teamed up with Japanese golf brand Honma on a limited-edition smartwatch aimed squarely at serious golfers — and at Garmin's grip on that market. The Watch GT 6 Pro Honma Edition launched first in Malaysia at RM 1,299 (around $328), a roughly $50 premium over the standard GT 6 Pro. No UK or US availability has been confirmed yet.
The hardware
The case is aerospace-grade titanium, covered by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal — the kind of glass you'd expect on a luxury dress watch rather than a sports tracker. The signature detail is a golden buckle engraved with the Honma logo. Two straps are included: a black fluoroelastomer band for the course and a brown woven strap for the 19th hole.
The display is a 1.47-inch AMOLED panel running at 466 × 466 pixels, with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. That's bright enough to read yardages in direct midday sun without shading the screen with your hand.
On the course
The golf software is where Huawei makes its real pitch. The watch carries zoomable 3D course maps for more than 17,000 golf courses worldwide, per Huawei Central. It calculates slope-adjusted distances to the pin — factoring in elevation changes — and logs your last shot distance instantly, so you can rethink club selection mid-round without pulling out a phone.
Battery life sits at 21 days in standard use, dropping to 7 days with the always-on display active. Huawei credits a new silicon battery technology for the endurance. For context, the Garmin Approach S70 — the current benchmark in dedicated golf watches — offers around 20 hours of GPS-active battery and access to over 43,000 courses, per Golf Monthly. Huawei's course library is smaller, but the battery advantage in everyday wear is significant.

The catch
The watch launched in Malaysia and the Philippines in early 2026. There is no confirmed retail date or pricing for the US or UK — and Huawei hasn't listed the Honma edition among products expected at its Madrid event in February. The standard GT 6 Pro retails for around £250 in the UK, so a Honma premium would likely push it above £300.
For golfers already using an Apple Watch with a third-party app, or a Garmin S70, the Honma edition needs a Western launch and a competitive price before it becomes a real option. Right now it's a notable product — just not one you can buy here yet.
