Oura Ring 5 leaks ahead of reveal: thinner design, $399 starting price, ships June 4

Oura is set to announce its fifth-generation smart ring on May 28, with shipping starting June 4, 2026 — and most of the key details have already leaked. An insider document obtained by Dealabs and corroborated by Memeburn reveals pricing, colors, and hardware changes ahead of the official reveal. At $399–$499, the Ring 5 enters a market where Samsung, RingConn, and Ultrahuman are all competing hard for the same wrist — or finger.

The hardware

The Ring 5 is thinner than its predecessor, addressing a common complaint about the Ring 4's bulkier feel. Oura says the sensors have been optimized rather than physically enlarged — so the slimmer body doesn't come at the cost of measurement accuracy. Battery life is rated at seven days, broadly in line with the Ring 4 but with a more efficient power draw from the updated internals.

Health tracking covers 50+ metrics including sleep quality, stress levels, physical activity, and menstrual cycle monitoring. The ring syncs with 40+ third-party apps — a figure carried over from Ring 4 and not yet confirmed as an expansion for Ring 5. Six color options are available: silver, matte silver, black, matte black, gold, and rose gold.

The price problem

Standard colors (silver and black) start at $399 / €429. Premium finishes — matte black, matte silver, gold, and rose gold — run $499 / €529. Oura also charges a $5.99/month subscription for full app access, which adds up over time.

That subscription is where competitors draw blood. The RingConn Gen 2 ($299) offers a 12-day battery with no monthly fee, and Wareable currently ranks it the best overall smart ring despite Oura's deeper feature set. Samsung's Galaxy Ring ($399) skips the subscription entirely and benefits from tight integration with Galaxy phones. Ultrahuman's Ring Pro cleared US Customs in May 2026 at a similar price point, adding yet another option.

What to expect

Oura's Ring 5 looks like a meaningful hardware refresh rather than a reinvention. The slimmer, more jewelry-like design is a direct answer to Galaxy Ring's mainstream appeal. Whether that's enough to justify the premium — and the monthly fee — over a growing list of cheaper alternatives is the question buyers will need to answer when pre-orders open on May 28.
