If you take one idea from all this, make it the boring one about power. Wi-Fi standards, throughput figures and processor speeds will not change your week at sea, but a router that cannot find a socket is a router that stays in the suitcase. Work out where yours will sit and what will feed it, test the login process somewhere with free Wi-Fi before you leave, and check what your cruise line has to say about the whole idea. Do those three things and the rest of it looks after itself, which is more than I can say for most travel gear.
