Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition: $899.99 price and November 27 release date leaked
Microsoft's Xbox 25th-anniversary console now has a leaked price and date: $899.99 in the US and €899.99 in Europe, shipping November 27 — Black Friday. The figure comes from billbil-kun, the French leaker behind Dealabs, who has a strong track record on hardware reveals. Microsoft first teased the console on June 8 but stayed quiet on price and timing.
The console
The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition pairs the same hardware as the standard Series X with a translucent OG Green shell — a nod to the original Xbox Bill Gates and Dwayne Johnson unveiled in 2001. Storage is 1TB. A matching Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition comes bundled with it, bringing back color-coded ABXY buttons that have been absent from Xbox controllers for years. Controller pre-orders are set to open August 26 at Gamescom, where an official announcement is also expected.
The price problem
At $899.99, the X25 sits at an uncomfortable spot. The standard Series X now costs $799.99 following Microsoft's recent price hike, so the limited-edition premium is $100 — reasonable enough for a collector's item. The awkward part is that $899.99 also happens to be what Sony charges for the PS5 Pro, which offers twice the storage (2TB) and meaningfully more GPU power. The X25 has no hardware advantage to justify price parity with Sony's flagship; the appeal is entirely cosmetic and nostalgic.
What's confirmed, what isn't
None of this is official yet. Microsoft has not confirmed the price, the release date, or which markets will carry the console. UK pricing in GBP remains unknown. The controller pre-order window at Gamescom (August 26–30) suggests a formal reveal is close, but until Microsoft speaks, treat the $899.99 figure as a well-sourced rumor rather than a done deal.
