Motorola has become the first third-party phone maker to roll out stable Android 17, beating Samsung and arriving just months after Google's own Pixel devices. The update covers more than 50 phones across the Razr, Edge, and Moto G lines. If you own a recent Motorola, there's a good chance your device is on the list — though when it actually arrives depends heavily on which model you have.

Speed record, tiered delivery

Motorola launched its Android 17 beta program back in February 2026, only days after Google opened its own beta, per Android Authority. The stable rollout started with the Motorola Edge 2025 and Signature series. The Razr 70 lineup and Edge 70 series are next in line. Budget Moto G owners are looking at a much longer wait — historical rollout patterns put that group at Q1 2027, according to GadgetsFocus.

The full device list

The confirmed eligible phones span four series:

- Signature: Motorola Signature - Razr: Razr 70 Ultra, Razr 70 Plus, Razr 70, Razr Ultra 2026, Razr+ 2026, Razr 2026, Razr Fold 2026, Razr Fold 2025, Razr 60 Ultra, Razr 60s, Razr 60d, Razr 60, Razr Ultra 2025, Razr+ 2025, Razr 2025, Razr 50 Ultra, Razr+ 2024 - Edge: Edge 2026, Edge 70 Pro+, Edge 70 Pro, Edge 70 Max, Edge 70 Fusion+, Edge 70 Fusion, Edge 70, Edge 2025, Edge 60 Stylus, Edge 60 Pro, Edge 60 Fusion, Edge 60, Edge 50 Ultra - Moto G: G Stylus 2026, G Power 2026, G Play 2026, G 2026, G 2025, G Power 2025, G Stylus 2025, G Max, G87, G86, G86 Power, G77, G77 Power, G67, G57, G57 Power, G47, G37, G37 Power

One notable gap: neither the Edge 60 Neo nor the Edge 50 Neo appears on the list, despite Motorola's five-year update promise for those devices. Motorola has not officially addressed the omission.

What's new in HelloUI

The Android 17 update for Motorola devices ships with a revised interface called HelloUI. Live Updates — real-time activity indicators similar to Apple's Dynamic Island — move from the left status bar to a center-cutout pill. Settings pages now visually align more closely with Pixel UI. The lock screen gains new clock styles and fonts, and a swipe-down gesture now triggers screenshots.

New features include the Qira AI assistant, Landscape Stereo audio, expanded HDR brightness, and a Battery Health monitor. Qira is tied to hardware with a dedicated NPU, so it's limited to mid-range and flagship devices — budget Moto G phones get a stripped-down feature set.

The Neo question

The absence of the Edge 60 Neo and Edge 50 Neo is the sharpest concern for buyers who chose those phones partly on the strength of Motorola's update guarantee. No timeline or explanation has been published. If you own one of those devices, it's worth checking Motorola's support pages periodically — but don't expect clarity soon. For everyone else on the confirmed list, head to Settings → System → System update to check your current status.
