We've waited: WhatsApp no longer needs to be tethered to a smartphone to work on all devices

The developers of the instant messaging service WhatsApp have finally "detached" the messenger from smartphones for all users.

What does this mean?

Now you don't have to connect your smartphone to the Internet to use WhatsApp on tablets and personal computers. There is a separate identifier for all devices by the developers. In addition, all devices with an account are linked on the server.

Interestingly, the tablet cannot be used as the main gadget, while the iPhone owners will have to put up with some restrictions. For example, Apple smartphone users won't be able to delete conversations and messages on other devices.

This is not the end of the limitations. The developers point out that you have to run WhatsApp on the main gadget at least once every two weeks, otherwise synchronization will be interrupted. This applies to all smartphones / computers regardless of operating system version.

To activate the function, you need to go to the "Linked Devices" section and scan the QR code that will be displayed in the web version of the messenger for computer. Note that no more than four devices can be connected to a single WhatsApp account.
