OpenAI has denied Elon Musk's allegations, and called the lawsuit "regrets" for breaking up with the company

OpenAI executives have strongly disputed a lawsuit filed by the company's co-founder Elon Musk. According to OpenAI Chief Strategy Officer Jason Kwon, the billionaire's claims "may stem from Elon’s regrets about not being involved with the company today".

Musk has initiated a lawsuit against OpenAI, its CEO Sam Altman and others, accusing them of abandoning their original non-profit mission of creating artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. Instead, Musk alleged, the company has turned into a for-profit venture for the sake of monetising its developments through a partnership with Microsoft.
However, Kwon lamented the actions of an OpenAI co-founder against his own company. He acknowledged Musk's central role in the startup's genesis, including large donations of over $44 million, but the OpenAI director also mentioned that Musk once wanted full control of the company and even suggested merging it with Tesla.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called Musk his hero, but noted that the company's mission continues despite the current conflict. Kwon also emphasised OpenAI's independence and the permanence of its goals to create AI for the benefit of all humanity.
Musk's lawyers have yet to comment on OpenAI's response to the lawsuit filed.
