Amazon already has an Astro for Home robot in its range, which is designed to keep an eye on pets and order in the house. And now the company has introduced Astro for Business, a security robot for businesses and offices.
Essentially, Astro for Business can replace a live security guard and patrol warehouses and premises on its own. It is equipped with a periscopic HD camera, night vision, can broadcast live camera images around the clock and provides two-way communication. The robot moves autonomously or along a route via remote control.
Amazon Astro for Business is available in the US for $2,349.99 But that's just the cost of the robot, Amazon also offers three paid subscriptions to access additional services. Ring Protect Pro for $20 a month lets you save footage for up to 180 days and sync it with Ring's motion sensors and alarms. Astro Secure for $60 per month allows the robot to autonomously patrol the premises, travelling along user-selected routes. Astro can also send alerts to the user and autonomously access triggered sensors to check what's going on.
A Virtual Security Guard subscription costs $99 per month and involves calling Ring's emergency response agents if the robot spots a stranger, hears a noise or notices other suspicious activity. To access Virtual Security Guard, customers need to subscribe to Ring Protect Pro and Astro Secure.
