The worst port for Switch was fixed by the same people responsible for developing the failed GTA remasters

In 2018, the console from Nintendo received one of the worst ports of games that have ever been released here - it was the game ARK: Survival Evolved. Four years after its first release, a new port was released that used a new version of the Unreal Engine and it's really a huge upgrade!

Here's What We Know

Ark on Switch in 2018 was not just bad, it was really, really terrible. Many critics from various publications called it one of the worst ports (if not the worst) ever released on Switch. It had incredibly low resolution and horribly low frame rate, with lots of bugs and freezes. But things changed significantly when Groove Street Games, the studio responsible for the three GTA remasters, took over the development.

According to the developers, they had to reassemble the game completely using Unreal Engine 4. The port is based on the Xbox version of the game. Thanks to the tools of the engine, the game started to run in just 30 seconds (and in the original version it could take 3 minutes), it increased the resolution, the shadows became more beautiful. The game also uses dynamic resolution scaling to help things look sharper and run better on Switch.

Of course, such a port still looked, to put it mildly, "weak" compared to its versions for consoles and even more so for PC, but, nevertheless, it is now playable and even more surprising is the fact that the team that also developed very clumsy remasters of GTA SA, Vice City and GTA III is responsible for the development of such a good port. I mean, these things happen.
