Are the dummy matches over? Electronic Arts has developed a system to combat match-fixing in online games

Electronic Arts has published a patent called "Collusion Detection in Online Games". This system is able to analyze the actions of players and recognize unsportsmanlike behavior.

For this purpose, the system will track players in the match itself, as well as identify common friends and social interactions in various groups, clans and chats.

The system provides several options for punishment: the offender can be ejected from the match, deprived of rewards, blocked access to the game for a while or forever.

It should be noted that many such developments remain in the format of an idea and do not come to practical application. It is difficult to say whether EA will use such a system in its games, but given the growing popularity of online games and their high degree of competitiveness, the patent may well be used in future multiplayer projects of the company.
