Avatar: The Way of Water has become the fourth highest-grossing film project in cinema history, according to figures posted on specialist website Box Office Mojo.

Here's What We Know

The James Francis Cameron film grossed over $2 billion at the box office in a month and a half, surpassing Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.

The second installment of Avatar is now second only to the top three highest-grossing films:

  • Avatar ($2.92 billion);
  • Avengers: Endgame ($2.799 billion);
  • Titanic ($2.194 billion).

Note that two of the Top 3 films are by James Cameron! Consequently, at this stage the director is competing with his personal records.
