wtf is with all these bot profiles blowing up my insta lately????

Okay is it just me or has Instagram become completely unusable in the past couple months?? Every time I post ANYTHING I get like 30 comments from accounts with usernames like Sarah_johnson48291_official with zero posts and a profile pic that looks AI generated. Open my DM requests and it's nothing but "hey bby check my prfile 😘😘" or "I can turn your $500 into $50,000 with bitcoin mining strategy" from obvious fake accounts. Telegram is even worse - joined a local hiking group and it's now 80% crypto scam bots posting links every 5 minutes. I've reported like a hundred of these accounts and NOTHING happens? Meanwhile my friend got a 24hr ban for posting a mildly spicy meme?? Makes no sense. Do these platforms even care anymore or are we all just shouting into a void of fake accounts at this point?

Istg the verification system is a JOKE πŸ’€ My friend's cat has a blue checkmark (yes an actual cat) while my business account with tax docs submitted got rejected 4x. Make it make sense??????

Anyone remember when Instagram banned a bunch of moms for posting breastfeeding pics but these crypto scammers with literal stolen profile pics are running wild? I got temp-banned last week for calling someone a potato but the bot that comments "Make money fast dm me" on every single post I make is apparently fine lolololol

wait is YOUR explore page also suddenly nothing but dropshipping ads and weird AI art accounts??? mine changed overnight like 2 weeks ago and now it's just garbage no matter how many times I hit "not interested" πŸ₯΄

My theory is Instagram secretly SOLD our data to these bot farms. Notice how the spam comments are always vaguely related to what you post? Post gym pic = get spam about fitness products. Post vacation = get travel scams. They know too much to be random

Duuuude I posted about my dog dying and got bombarded with pet memorial scam accounts within MINUTES. No way that's coincidence. They have to be getting our post content from somewhere. Creepy af

Koltri April 28, 2025, 11:42 a.m.

I tested this theory by posting a pic with random hashtags that had nothing to do with the image. Got bot comments specifically about those hashtags, not what was in the picture. They're definitely scraping hashtags at minimum

Y'all might be onto something... notice how the spam DMs always come in right after you post? Not random times? It's like they get notified of new activity. Not paranoid if they're actually watching πŸ‘€

Pfft... talkin bout 'fix the bots.' Insta ain't gonna do NOTHING. Bots = activity = higher numbers to show advertisers = more money. Why would they kill their own golden goose? They just do the occasional "we removed X million fake accounts" PR stunt to pretend they care

Kum888 April 29, 2025, 3:50 p.m.

Most depressing part is the comments section on any slightly viral post... just bots talking to other bots. Tried reading comments on a national geographic post yesterday and it was just hundreds of fake accounts having nonsensical conversations with each other while tagging more bots. Real black mirror shit

yooooooo my instagram got hacked last month and started posting crypto scams, and even after I GOT IT BACK, insta now shows me nothing but crypto/NFT posts in my explore page?? they literally reward the hackers by maintaining their topic preferences after the hack??? make it stop 😭😭😭

BLACKS April 30, 2025, 5:21 p.m.

What we're witnessing is straight-up engagement farming - these networks create thousands of fake accounts that interact with each other to build "legitimate-looking" histories before selling them to scammers. Older accounts with posting history sell for premium prices on black market forums because they bypass most detection systems

It's gotten so bad I literally can't tell which of my followers are real anymore?? Just scrolled through and realized like 30% have never interacted with a single post but have weirdly similar bios with the same typing patterns. Are these sleeper bots or what??

Ny_M May 3, 2025, 1:34 p.m.

not me spending 3 hours mass blocking accounts only for 50 new ones to follow me overnight 🀑 it's like playing the worst whack-a-mole game ever created

Robot_64 May 4, 2025, 2:52 a.m.

The worst is when you block one and THREE MORE immediately follow you... it's like they're monitoring who blocks them and targeting you more! The more you fight back the worse it gets!

v8245 May 7, 2025, 6:18 p.m.

guys guys GUYS... i found the wildest thing. Go check any random brand's comment section. The bots are now ARGUING WITH EACH OTHER in the comments to seem more human. They'll disagree about the product to create "engagement." Saw two obvious bot accounts having a full-on fake debate about a water bottle yesterday. End times fr

1177 May 11, 2025, 11:55 p.m.

ngl i made a fake profile with an AI pic just to see how fast it would get offers, and got 17 "modeling opportunity" DMs within 48hrs without posting ANYTHING. Not one single post. Just an AI woman's face and empty profile. This platform is cooked beyond repair

c3-1 May 15, 2025, 8:26 p.m.

What if half the real users left and it's now mostly bots advertising to other bots? Like what if that's why none of the platforms care - because fixing it would reveal how few actual humans are still actively using these apps? Instagram becomes first digital ghost town inhabited entirely by bot accounts trying to scam each other πŸ’€
