Usually users communicate with ChatGPT's chatbot by texting, but Stanford student Bryan Hau-Ping Chiang has found a new use for it.

Details

The guy has developed the rizzGPT smart monocle with open-source Monocle AR hardware, which uses ChatGPT artificial intelligence and the Whisper speech recognition system from the same OpenAI. The compact gadget can recognise text, speech, recognise faces, understand and process live conversation and provide the user with the information they need.

Thus, the AI can become a good assistant in almost any situation: it will help support conversation during a date, answer questions when applying for a job and recommend dishes at a restaurant based on the user's preferences.

The monocular works using the LifeOS system, which Chung has manually trained on personal messages, photos and other data. For example, it recognises his friend's face and prompts common stories from the past during conversations.

Guy admits that rizzGPT still needs tweaking. First of all, the design of the device needs to be worked on, as it is uncomfortable to wear. Also, sometimes the AI is slow to respond, leading to awkward pauses in the conversation.
