MWC 2024: Micron unveils the smallest UFS 4.0 memory chip for smartphones with up to 1TB of storage capacity

US memory chip maker Micron showed its new development at MWC 2024 in Barcelona.

We are talking about UFS 4.0 memory. According to the company, it is the most compact chip for mobile devices on the market. Its dimensions are 9×13 mm. Thanks to this design, smartphone manufacturers will be able to use more space in phones for batteries.

The new chip offers capacities ranging from 256GB to 1TB and boasts sequential read speeds of 4300MB/s and sequential write speeds of 4000MB/s. The chip is based on 232-layer 3D NAND technology. The novelty was developed in the company's labs in the US, China and South Korea.
