The Armed Forces of Ukraine showed American M270 MLRS for the first time
The Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time showed the American multiple rocket launcher system M270.
What we know
Unfortunately, so far we can see M270 MLRS only on the photo. The picture captures two jet systems at once. The second can be seen in the background.
Recall that M270 is a universal launcher manufactured by Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. The MLRS is based on the "M2 Bradley" chassis. The combat vehicle is equipped with an engine type VTA-903T with 500 HP. Maximum speed is 64 km/h and range is 480 km.
M270 MLRS has a mass of 24.5 tons in the fighting position. The minimum firing range is 2 km, and maximum is 300 km with rounds ATACMS. But the ATACMS ammunition has not yet been delivered to Ukraine.
In early July, it became known that Ukrainian military personnel in the United Kingdom The Ukrainian military is mastering the M270 MLRS missile system and L118 howitzers, the transfer of which was not even announced (video). In the near future Ukraine will receive three M270 MLRS with GPS from Great Britain. Instead, Norway will send three M270s to the United Kingdom for modernization. By the way, it is not excluded that the photo was taken at the exercises.
