U.S. Ready to Send B-21 Raider Strategic Bombers to Australia

The United States is considering supplying Northrop Grumman's B-21 Raider strategic bombers to Australia.

Here's What We Know

Frank Kendall, the U.S. Secretary of the Air Force, responded to a question from reporters about deliveries of B-21 Raider strategic bombers during a briefing in the Australian capital. He said the United States is willing to consider such a possibility if the Royal Australian Air Force makes a request.

The B-21 Raider is a strategic bomber that costs about $500 million. About $50 billion has been spent on the development program. The first flight of the aircraft should take place in 2023. The bomber will carry conventional and nuclear weapons, including AGM-158 JASMM missiles, JDAM warheads and B83 thermonuclear bombs.
