Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha in video review: how the unusual wrapped in display smartphone works

Last year in September the company Xiaomi introduced its concept flagship Mi Mix Alpha for $ 2800. It has not come on the market yet, but has fallen into the hands of the popular blogger Marques Brownlee, also known as MKBHD.

What it has shown

It seems that Marques got a prototype smartphone, since some issues still need to be finalized.

But first, let us recall what distinquishes Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha. Primarily, this is a display that occupies 180.6% of the surface area of the entire device. That is, it covers almost the entire body, leaving room only for a small metal part with the camera. According to Marques, the screen is protected by glass, but this is not one solid piece, there are several parts connected with each other, creating illusion of integrity. When light falls on the edge - it's easy to notice.

Each part of the display performs a specific task. The left side displays date, time and notifications, the back panel - weather, steps counter, music controls and the like. On the right side there are some digital controls for volume and power on-off, but these buttons are often pressed accidentally.

In order to make a selfie a user has to turn the smartphone as there is only one main camera. But it is a 108-megapixel!

In general, Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha turns out to be an interesting device. Soon it should go on sale in India, but the release in other countries is still unknown.
