The founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, has allocated $ 40 million to create a new breed of cows.
Why this is necessary
Gates states: "The efficiency of each dollar spent here is very high, and we can get a cow that will produce four times more milk at the same survivability." That is, the animal will get endurance to high temperatures and greater productivity.
The new breed, most likely, should be obtained by crossing European and African individuals. To do research will be a non-profit Scottish company from Edinburgh - the Global Alliance of Veterinary Drugs for Livestock (GALVmed), which conducts studies on genetics of livestock and creates vaccines.
Are there any shortcomings
Climatologists are afraid that such a development could adversely affect the environment and lead to its degradation, but the creator of Microsoft says that this should alleviate global poverty and hunger.
