According to the analytical company Strategy Analytics, in the fourth quarter of 2017, Apple accounted for more than half of the world smartphone market revenue. The share of the main competitor in the face of Samsung was three times less, and in Huawei - seven times.
The holiday season Apple shipped iPhone 77.3 million to $ 61.4 billion, equivalent to 51% of total revenues from all manufacturers. Last year, this figure was 48.5%. As experts say, thanks to the launch of the jubilee iPhone X, the average selling price of the smartphone jumped to $ 796 - almost three times more than the market as a whole.
The revenue of Samsung's mobile unit is more modest - $ 18.9 billion. During the year, the share of the Korean giant in global sales increased from 14.5% to 15.7%, and the average selling price increased by 21% to $ 254. Closes the top three Chinese Huawei, whose revenues amounted to $ 8.4 billion (about 7%). The company has the most modest average cost of gadgets at $ 205.
Less does not mean worse
Against the background of falling sales of devices in pieces, manufacturers aimed at the upper price segment. This approach allowed companies from the top 3 to increase business profitability, while the share of other players in the category "other" fell from 30.5% in the fourth quarter of 2016 to 26.2%.
