In just a week — April 30 — the release of the new PlayStation 5 exclusive titled Saros will take place.

This is an ambitious roguelike shooter from Housemarque, which is a kind of sequel to Returnal (2021), but with a new setting, characters, and a slightly different theme.

Saros has long attracted enormous attention and looks incredibly technological, and now, after critics have published their reviews, we can be sure of the highest quality of the novelty.

What is known

Journalists and bloggers do not hide their delight with Saros, calling it a contender for the title of the best game of the year and an incredible demonstration of modern technological capabilities, as well as an interesting combination of light science fiction and space horror.

Critics note that the novelty skillfully develops the ideas laid down in Returnal, and, more importantly, does not repeat its shortcomings. The audio-visual execution is at the highest level, the gameplay mechanics maintain interest and dynamics in each cycle, and the innovations significantly expand the gaming capabilities. Rahul Kohli's acting also pleased many reviewers, and the other characters are performed as organically and lively as possible.

Another undeniable advantage of the game is the huge selection of settings and accessibility options, allowing each user to enjoy the game regardless of their experience, reaction speed, or physical limitations.

A strange situation with the arsenal: some critics claim it has become larger and more varied than in Returnal, while others hold the opposite opinion, but definitely Arjun Devraj has more unique abilities than Selene.

Among the drawbacks of Saros, a crumpled and quite predictable plot and not too high duration are noted — completing the plot will take about 15 hours, but now each individual cycle is not too long and requires 20-30 minutes.

As a result, Saros received 88 points on Metacritic and 89 points on OpenCritic with 95% recommendations.

To learn more about Saros, we recommend reading our reviewer's detailed review (spoiler: he also liked the game very much).
