Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced now has a release date — July 9, 2026 — and a steady drip of gameplay clips that, when stitched together, paint a convincing picture of a remake that goes well beyond a visual refresh. Ubisoft has confirmed the game for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store) at $59.99 for the standard edition. Physical copies are exclusive to Europe, so US players are looking at a digital-only purchase.

The look

YouTuber JorRaptor compiled Ubisoft's short social media clips into a near four-minute continuous gameplay reel, and the results are striking. Caribbean islands, the streets of Havana, open ocean, naval combat — everything has had a genuine generational upgrade. Edward's movement reads noticeably smoother: landing animations are improved, new traversal moves have been added, and recovery time after jumps and falls is shorter. The world itself is more seamless too, with locations no longer separated by loading screens.

The changes

Combat has been rebuilt around parrying and takedowns rather than the counter-heavy system most players remember. The Hidden Blade is no longer a general combat tool — it's reserved for stealth kills and contextual executions only. That's a deliberate design call from Creative Director Paul Fu, per the Ubisoft News Deep Dive, and it will force players who leaned on aggressive spam to adjust their approach.

Stealth has been expanded meaningfully. Edward can now crouch at any time, not just in tall grass. Nighttime genuinely affects enemy awareness. The classic Eagle Vision returns alongside a new Observe mode — borrowed from Assassin's Creed Shadows — that lets you tag enemies and objectives more precisely. Social stealth is back too: blending into crowds, sitting on benches, and paying dancers to distract guards are all confirmed, per Ubisoft US Official. The tailing missions that frustrated many players in 2013 have also been redesigned.

Worth noting

The remake drops the original's multiplayer mode and the Freedom Cry expansion, which narrows its scope compared to the 2013 release. A European Collector's Edition is available at €199.99 with a 34-page artbook and world map, but stock is limited. The standard $59.99 digital edition is the straightforward option for most players.
