NordPass has published a list of the most common passwords in 2021. Alas, the ranking is headed by primitive combinations that can be hacked in less than 1 second.

What is known

The most commonly used password in 2021 is 123456. This combination takes less than 1 second to crack. The password is used over 103 million times. The top 3 also includes 123456789 and 12345 (46 million and 32.955 million units, respectively). But the combination qwerty settled only on the fourth line.

The rating includes 200 passwords. Almost all of the first hundred are hacked in less than 1 second. The longest work is needed in order to guess the combinations 1g2w3e4r, qwerty123, michele and myspace1 - three hours each.

NordPass also shared a few interesting facts. For example, 222,287 women in the United States use the password iloveyou. In men, it is less common - 96 785 times. In Canada, the most popular sports-related password is Hockey (26,055 times for men and 8,324 times for women). At the same time, Metallica's password surpassed Slipknot in popularity - 88,543 versus 75,204.
