Artificial intelligence on the scale of the human brain has been created
Chinese scientists were able to use a supercomputer to create an artificial intelligence that is close to the scale of the human brain.
What we know
The AI is based on a supercomputer with a performance of more than 1 exaFLOPS. Scientists say they have made hardware changes to the architecture and emphasize the complexity of this work, because the OceanLight system has 42 million computing cores.
The researchers claim that artificial intelligence can operate with 174 trillion parameters. The AI is able to compete with the cerebral cortex of the human brain, which has about 125 trillion synapses.
The system has 96,000 nodes that run on 390-core Sunway SW39010 chipsets. It is one of the world's first supercomputers with more than 1 exaFLOPS of performance. Actual performance including AI is 5.3 exaFLOPS.
