Italian Iveco LMV armored vehicle suddenly found itself on the battlefront in Ukraine, although deliveries were not announced

Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine unexpectedly showed an armored car Iveco LMV made in Italy.

What we know

The Iveco LMV was developed by Iveco Defence Vehicles, a subsidiary of IVECO. The manufacturer initially created ten prototypes, the first of which appeared 21 years ago. The appearance of the vehicle at the battlefront was quite unexpected, because neither Italy nor Ukraine announced the transfer of armored vehicles. It is possible that this is a trophy vehicle, which was taken from the Russians. By the way, for the Russian Federation, the modification of the car is called "Lynx".

The company claims that its vehicle is the world's first solution in its class with an integrated mine protection system, which has become an integral part of the undercarriage. The vehicle is designed to meet the needs of the armed forces for the installation of passive armor.

The frame of Iveco LMV is made of steel pipes. All vehicles have assemblies for hinged armor panels, but the modules are not included. The vehicle is capable of providing protection against small arms (5.56 mm and 7.62 mm), engineer mines and large caliber machine guns.

The Iveco LMV is equipped with a 185 horsepower engine and can reach a speed of 130 km/h on the highway. Cruising range is 500 km. The vehicle in different modifications is in service in Albania, Belgium, Brazil, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Norway, Lebanon, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Tunisia and Russia.
