The speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat commented on the appearance of Iranian drones in the arsenal of the Russian army.

Here's What We Know

A representative of the Air Force noted that the Iranian UAVs are superior to the Bayraktar TB2 in terms of maximum payload weight. According to official parameters, they can lift three times more than the Turkish Baykar drones.

The Air Force's arsenal includes the time-honored Soviet S-300 and Buk-M1 surface-to-air missile systems, as well as German Gepard anti-aircraft tanks and British Stormer HVM self-propelled systems. They have not yet encountered Iranian-made drones, but they are ready to shoot them down.

The problem could be the number of drones, or rather the need for missiles for anti-aircraft missile systems. According to various sources, Iran has sent from several hundred to a thousand drones to Russia. However, Yuriy Ignat notes that Iranian UAVs will be common targets for Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners like Russian drones Orlan or Forpost.

In addition, UAVs from Iran may have quality problems (say hello to Iranian cars). For example, U.S. intelligence claims that some of the drones that have already made it to Russia turned out to be defective.
