East Yorkshire in the UK is now home to Europe's largest Tesla Megapack battery.

Here's What We Know

Work on the Pillswood energy storage project has proceeded at an accelerated pace in view of a possible problematic winter amid Europe's energy crisis. Although the battery has already been connected to a substation, the main power supplier will be connected next year.

It will be the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm. Commissioning of the first two phases is scheduled for 2023. The entire project will be completed in 2026, at which point Dogger Bank will be able to generate 4.8 GW of electricity.

But two phases will be enough for the U.S. company's battery to work. The new Tesla Megapack energy storage will be able to store 196 MWh of electricity. This will be enough to power 300 000 homes for two hours.

Pillswood is one of three Tesla projects in the UK. The U.S. manufacturer has already installed 15 MW*h and 68 MW*h energy storage units. All three projects are overseen by the British company Harmony Energy Limited.
