U.S. may transfer to Ukraine GLSDB missiles for HIMARS with a range of 150 km

In the near future, GLSDB shells for HIMARS, M270 MLRS and its modifications may be delivered to Ukraine. This is reported by Politico.

Here's What We Know

The GLSDB provision was first talked about last year. Then the Boeing company offered to transfer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine shells with a range of 150 km. Sending GLSDB since then has not moved from the dead point. However, the situation may change soon.

Western media report that the U.S. is preparing the largest single military aid package for Ukraine. It may be announced as early as next Friday, January 20. The size of the previous one was $1.85 billion, as another almost $1 billion was provided by the USAID program.

According to Politico, the United States will provide Ukraine with Stryker infantry fighting vehicles. Such plans first became known last week. At the same time M1 Abrams tanks will not be included in the nearest military aid package.

In conclusion, let's say a few words about GLSDB projectiles. They will hit the targets at the distance of 150 km. This is half as much as the ATACMS ballistic missiles, but now Ukraine is only using the GMLRS with a range of 80 km.

Each projectile combines an M26 rocket engine and a 115 kg GBU-39/B SDB aerial guided bomb. It moves to the target using GPS AND inertial navigation system. The Ukrainian Army has several systems that can use GLSDB projectiles: M142 HIMARS, MARS II, LRU and M270 MLRS.
