The US Navy received a combat submarine, Connecticut, which is equipped with an Xbox 360 controller.

What is known

On Saturday, March 17, a military submarine arrived at the US Air Force base in Connecticut. The 115-meter submarine weighs 7,800 tons, and can fight with ships and submarines. It will also be used for special operations and the imperceptible delivery of military to the places of action. The submarine is equipped with two launchers with Tomahawk missiles.

The submarine is equipped with a mast with photographic equipment, which replaced the usual periscope for the military. The mast rotates 360 degrees and received a camera with high resolution. The image is transferred to monitors in the control room of the submarine.

Usually, the military uses a "helicopter joystick" to control the mast, but the controller decided to replace the Xbox 360 manipulator. Commander Reed Koepp explained that the X360 controller is small in size and intuitively understandable for sailors who spend the evenings playing video games.
