The Twitch app for Nintendo Switch will stop working on January 31, 2024, and on November 6 it will no longer be available for download
The Twitch app first appeared on the Nintendo Switch on November 11, 2021, but now the company has decided to close it on the handheld console.
Here's What We Know
First, users started sharing messages sent by Twitch support on Twitter. They stated that Twitch would not be available in the eShop very soon. As early as 6 November, new users will not be able to download it, and on January 31, 2024, it will become unavailable for all Nintendo Switch users.
The biggest problem was that the Switch version of Twitch did not allow you to read and post chat messages, conduct your own broadcasts, or subscribe to channels through the app. Therefore, this version was much less useful than the mobile one.
Also, in a comment to The Verge, Twitch's Director of Global Corporate Communications Gabriella Raila said that this decision was difficult for the company, but Nintendo remains a valuable partner, and the company is grateful for all the support that the Switch community has given to Twitch and streamers.
