The Ukrainian army has received not the newest, but relatively effective howitzers from Croatia. We are talking about the M-46 guns.

Here's What We Know

According to ArmiiInform, the M-46s were delivered to one of the mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The number of howitzers received is not specified, but in the summer it was reported that Croatia sent at least 15 guns to Ukraine.

The M-46 can hardly be called a new artillery piece. Most likely, you were born after the production of cannons ended (1971). Croatia abandoned the howitzers because of the 130 mm caliber, which did not meet NATO standards.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have shown that with proper handling, the M-46s can even be effective in 2022. These artillery systems have already been able to destroy about two dozen enemy targets. The cannon is used to defeat enemy dugouts, artillery systems, manpower and combat equipment.

Ukrainian artillerymen were able to hit the target, which was at a distance of 37 km. At the same time, the claimed range of the M-46 is 27 km. The disadvantage of the howitzer is the need to clean the barrel after each shot.
